HC Deb 02 November 1976 vol 918 c555W
Mr. Adam Hunter

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland who are the manufacturers or suppliers of the computers and supporting programmes and systems which it is proposed to use for the Hazfile computerised information bank for the fire service; and what are the total proposed expenditures to each of these manufacturers and suppliers.

Mr. Harry Ewing

I understand that Hazfile is a computer-based rapid-access information file of properties of hazardous materials proposed by the Atomic Energy Research Establishment at Harwell, designed for the support of the emergency services. If it were decided to purchase equipment to implement the scheme, normal tendering procedures with appropriate firms would be followed, but there is meantime no Government commitment for the use of this information system in the fire service.
