HC Deb 02 November 1976 vol 918 c559W
Mr. George Rodgers

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer in how many years, including the year in which the referendum was held, Great Britain has gained rather than lost when contributions are set against receipts to the Community budget; and what are the appropriate figures of gross contributions, receipts and net contributions from 1973 projected to 1980.

Mr. Robert Sheldon

The United Kingdom was a net beneficiary from the Community budget in 1975. Our gross contribution, receipts and net contribution to the Community budget from 1973 to 1980 are as follows:

£ million
Gross contribution Receipts Net contribution
1973 181 77 104
1974 179 148 31
1975 342 396 -54
1976 470 305 165
1977 525 315 210
1978 585 330 255
1979 655 330 325
1980 685 360 325

The estimated figures for 1976 to 1980 are at 1975 survey prices; the figures for the prior years are at outturn prices.
