HC Deb 02 November 1976 vol 918 cc554-5W
Mr. Craigen

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what consideration his Department has given to the social, economic and energy conservation factors brought out in the report commissioned by the SSEB on a district heating scheme based on redevelopment at the Pinkston Power Station site.

Mr. Gregor MacKenzie

The report, which concluded that a combined district heating and electricity generation scheme at Pinkston would not produce an adequate rate of return on capital invested, has been considered by the working group established by the Department of Energy to undertake an overall examination of the future role of combined heat and electricity generation systems in the United Kingdom. The working group is expected to report within a few months, and the Government will give careful consideration to its conclusions and any recommendations which it might make.
