asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science what is the number of children he estimates to be leaving school at the spring bank holiday in the administrative county of Suffolk; and how many of these. approximately, live in the Bury St. Edmunds, Haverhill, Newmarket and Mildenhall-Brandon areas, respectively.

The Suffolk education authority estimates that within its area 3,200 children will leave school at the spring bank holiday. Estimates for the localities comprising the Western area of the authority are:

Bury St. Edmunds 350
Haverhill 150
Newmarket 90
Mildenhall-Brandon 100
Sudbury 220
