§ Mr. McElhoneSchool attendance is a matter within the responsibility of the education authorities and information on which to base an estimate is not available centrally. The Government are, however, aware of current concern about truancy. The Pack Committee of Inquiry into Truancy and Indiscipline in Schools256W in Scotland is investigating the general issue and will report to me in due course.
