asked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he will do all in his power to provide sufficient suitable work for disabled persons employed in Remploy factories in the West Midlands.

Mr. Alfred Morris

Yes. My Department follows Government policy in giving a degree of preference to Remploy, and other enterprises for employing disabled people, under the priority supplies scheme when suitable contracts are awarded. Health authorities have been encouraged to take part in these arrangements.
