HC Deb 26 May 1976 vol 912 c219W
Mr. Faulds

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs how many British subjects are imprisoned in Israel; and on what charges they were convicted.

Mr. Hattersley

Three citizens of the United Kingdom and Colonies are currently serving sentences imposed by the Israeli courts. Two were convicted of acting against the security of the State of Israel, the third for possession of drugs. In addition, two citizens of the United Kingdom and Colonies are detained for investigation; one is alleged to have been involved in smuggling gold and the other in trespass and assault.
