HC Deb 26 May 1976 vol 912 cc219-20W
Mr. Arthur Lewis

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs how many British passport holders and their dependants who have entry rights into Great Britain are at present resident in Rhodesia; and what action the Government have taken or intend taking to receive these people into Great Britain if they decide to emigrate to the United Kingdom.

Mr. Rowlands

The answer to the first part of my hon. Friend's Question is that an estimated 155,000 Rhodesian residents have the right of abode in the United Kingdom. On the second part, I refer my hon. Friend to what my right hon. Friend the Prime Minister said in reply to a supplementary question by the right hon. Member for Finchley (Mrs. Thatcher) on 20th May.—[Vol. 911, c. 1707.]
