§ Mr. Spearingasked the Secretary of State for the Environment what specific matters contained in his recent Transport Review were brought to his attention by the statutory Railway Transport Users' Consultative Committee; and what specific invitation was sent to those committees to provide information or comments for the review in its formative stages.
§ Dr. GilbertI invited the Central Transport Consultative Committee to express views about future transport policy when I met it last year. The gist of its response is set out in its annual report for 1975, which was laid before Parliament on 11th February 1976. This summarised the committee's views about the need for an integrated transport policy, a stable rail investment programme, cuts in services and pricing policy, all of which were taken into 761W account in preparing the Consultation Document on Transport Policy.
