HC Deb 21 May 1976 vol 911 c733W
Mr. Beith

asked the Secretary of State for Defence what rules govern the carrying and use of firearms by his Department's police.

Mr. William Rodgers

The rules are broadly similar to those of other police forces in Great Britain and are contained in Force Standing Orders and in the Ministry of Defence Police Manual. Firearms may be issued only on the specific authority of the Secretary of State or the Chief Constable, Ministry of Defence Police, for a particular duty, to officers fully qualified on that type of weapon.
