§ Mr. Ripponasked the Minister for the Civil Service what is the present basis of calculation of pension for the retiring Head of the Civil Service.
§ Mr. Charles R. MorrisCivil servants of all grades, from the lowest industrial grade to the Head of the Civil Service, are eligible on retirement for a pension calculated on exactly the same basis under the Principal Civil Service Pension Scheme. Each reckonable year of service gives rise to a pension of 1/80th of the salary over the last year of service and a lump sum of up to three times that amount. Actuarially, a pension of 19W 1/80th with a lump sum of 3/80ths is broadly equivalent to a pension of 1/60th.
