asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what consideration his Department has given to proposals for the negotiation of an "optional directive" concerning trade in New York dressed poultry.

Mr. Strang

An "optional directive" would not be appropriate in this public health field. During the negotiations in Brussels, which culminated in decisions last July, we secured considerable relaxations as compared with the provisions accepted in the EEC entry negotiations.
