§ Mr. Reidasked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will seek to amend the Water (Scotland) Act 1949 to ensure that regional councils cannot levy a water rate on garages and advertising hoardings which are without a piped water supply.
§ Mr. William RossPublic water rate is leviable on all rated premises, as part of general rating. On premises other than dwellinghouses, domestic water rate can be levied if water from a public supply is used for a purpose for which the premises are used.
