HC Deb 04 March 1976 vol 906 c743W
Mr. Sillars

asked the Secretary of State for Employment if he is able to estimate the number of male and female jobs losses and gains in the Scottish economy in each of the last five years.

Mr. John Fraser

Precise information about job losses and gains is not available but an indication of net changes can be obtained by comparing the level of the mid-year employment estimates. Following is the information available for Scotland:

CHANGE IN THE ESTIMATED NUMBER OF EMPLOYEES
Males (Thousands) Females
Between June 1971 and June 1972 -22 +8
Between June 1972 and June 1973 +27 +33
Between June 1973 and June 1974 + 6 +29
Between June 1974 and June 1975 -23 - 8

Note: The June 1975 estimates are provisional.
