asked the Secretary of State for the Environment what will be the proportion of public expenditure on roads and transport allocated to the North-West in 1977, 1978 and 1979; and how this compares with the period 1974 to 1976.

Dr. Gilbert

This will depend on, among other things, the transport policies and programmes that the local authorities submit in relation to the years concerned.
