asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what were the tax yields from Derv and diesel fuel for the last financial year payable by the road haulage industry and British Rail, respectively.

It is estimated that in 1974–75 the tax yield from Derv used by road haulage contractors was about £150 million. Diesel fuel used by the railways yielded about £2 million.
