asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science if he will take steps by way of grant to facilitate the development of trade union education by the Workers' Educational Association in the social science departments of colleges of education and within trade unions.

Mr. Gerry Fowler

My right hon. Friend grant aids the WEA whose work includes trade union education. He has made available additional grant for the current academic year and has asked the Association to review its rôle to take account, among other things, of the increasing need for work in an industrial context.
