HC Deb 02 March 1976 vol 906 cc493-4W
Mr. Wakeham

asked the Secretary of State for Prices and Consumer Protection whether she has received any report from the Advertising Standards Authority concerning the sale of leisure plots.

Mr. Alan Williams

No. I understand however, that the Authority is looking into certain complaints about land advertised for sale as leisure plots.

Mr. Wakeham

asked the Secretary of State for Prices and Consumer Protection whether she has received any report from the Director General of Fair Trading concerning advertising material used in the sale of land, with particular reference to leisure plots; and whether she will make a statement.

Mr. Alan Williams

No.

Mr. Wakeham

asked the Secretary of State for Prices and Consumer Protection whether she intends to introduce legislation to amend the Trade Descriptions Act to include the sale of land.

Mr. Alan Williams

The extension of the Act to cover misdescriptions of land is one of the matters which are being considered in the course of the current review of the Act by an interdepartmental committee. I will consider the content of any amending legislation when I receive the committee's report, probably in the next few months.
