HC Deb 02 March 1976 vol 906 cc581-2W
Mr. Viggers

asked the Secretary of State for Employment what is his estimate of the number of epileptics who are currently unemployed and the number of known epileptics who are employed.

Mr. Harold Walker

I am informed by the Manpower Services Commission that in April 1975, the most recent date for which figures are available, 3,500 registered disabled people with epilepsy were unemployed. For obvious reasons it would be impracticable to maintain records about the disabilities of all disabled people in employment, but it is estimated that there are 100,000 people with epilepsy in the working population.
