Mr. Geoffrey Johnson Smith

asked the Secretary of State for Employment what were the numbers of unemployed in the area covered by the employment office which corresponds closely to the constituency of East Grinstead for the years 1966–67, 1967–68, 1968–69, 1969–70, 1970–71, 1971–72, 1972–73, 1973–74 and 1974–75; and how many have now been unemployed for more than 26 weeks.

The following table shows the numbers unemployed in the areas covered by the East Grinstead and Uckfield employment offices. Separate figures are not available for Crow-borough: these are included with the figures for Tunbridge Wells.

This figure does not include adult students.
