§ 31. Mr. McCrindleasked the Secretary of State for Education and Science if he will estimate the cost transferred to the local education authories as a result of the phasing out of the direct grant.
§ Mr. MulleyNo exact estimate can be made of the additional expenditure518W which may fall on LEAs generally as a result of the phase out, but it may well be greatly outweighed by associated savings.
§ 53. Miss Fookesasked the Secretary of State for Education and Science if he will amend the Direct Grant Grammar School (Cessation of Grant) Regulations so that pupils whose parents have to move from one part of the country to another are able to move from one ex-direct grant school to another without the loss of capitation and remitted fees grants after 31st July 1976.
§ Mr. MulleyEach school has always been treated as a separate entity and I do not consider it appropriate to change this principle. If the school to which the pupil moves has opted to enter the maintained system the entitlement to grant will continue for the time being.
