HC Deb 02 March 1976 vol 906 c530W
55. Mr. Moonman

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what is the existing medical provision for mentally ill adults within the Basildon constituency and in the county of Essex, both as to day hospital places and available beds.

Dr. Owen

There is at present no provision in the Basildon District, which is served by Runwell and Warley Hospitals. A new unit of 130 beds and 160 day hospital places is expected to become fully operational early in 1977. In Essex there are a total of 2,295 beds—including psychogeriatric—and 344 day hospital places.
