HL Deb 15 June 1976 vol 373 cc501-2WA
Lord STAMP

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether they will consider commending the booklet Sound Sex Education, published by the Order of Christian Unity, as a valuable contribution to the problem of sex education for the young, and making it available to Area Health Officers, Health Education Officers and Community Health Councils.

Lord WELLS-PESTELL

The Health Education Council, which has a responsibility at national level for the promotion and development of health education regularly informs health authorities and thus health education officers, of new publications in the field of health education. It is for the Council to decide whether it gives publicity to the bookletSound Sex Education and whether it includes a reference to the booklet in a future revision of its: list of publications. It is then for health authorities to pass on to Community Health Councils, and to any other appropriate organisations, information which they consider may he of interest to these organisations in their work.

We are, of course, aware of this booklet. but it is not the usual practice of the Government to comment on the many individual booklets of this kind which are published.
