It is understood, however, that the number of veterinary officers directly employed by local authorities in Scotland is small. Some increase in these numbers is expected over the next three years to 39W enable local authorities to supervise the operation of Poultry Meat (Hygiene) Regulations shorly to be laid before Parliament.
