Mr. Arthur Lewis

asked the Prime Minister whether, in support of the Govment's policy of more open government, he will arrange for all departmental Ministers, when discussing with interested parties Government Bills and proposed legislation, to see that these discussions include Members of Parliament before the Bill is prepared and introduced to Parliament.

The Prime Minister

When formulating policy before the introduction of legislation, Ministers always bear in mind the desirability of consulting as widely as possible among all interested parties including Members of Parliament.
