§ Mr. Liptonasked the Secretary of State for Employment what is the total estimated cost to public funds in each case of the Manpower Services Commission, the Training Service Agency and the Employment Service Agency and the number of staff employed in each of these bodies; and what is the number of jobs they have provided or authorised for the general public.
§ Mr. GoldingI am informed by the Manpower Services Commission that the estimated total cost of the commission for the financial year ending 21st March 1977 is £363,220,000, made up as follows:

Office of the Manpower Services Commission … 207 Employment Service Agency … 14,593 Training Services Agency … 7,717 The Manpower Services Commission's Job Creation Programme had created 24,107 jobs as at Friday 4th June. In addition, the number of placings provided by the employment offices in Great Britain in the first quarter of 1976 was 265,063. The number of people completing training courses under the Training Opportunities Scheme in the same period was 18,694.
