HC Deb 26 July 1976 vol 916 c85W
Mr. Nicholas Winterton

asked the Secretary of State for Industry why, in the early months of 1976, information produced by the import surveillance licensing system was not promptly available to the textile industry; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Alan Williams

Complete information from the surveillance licensing system was not available during the first four months of 1976 because of the need to reprogramme the computer to take into account the change on 1st January 1976 of most of the tariff/trade headings on which the system is based. However, figures for surveillance licences issued are now being sent monthly to the textile industry.
