HC Deb 26 July 1976 vol 916 cc41-2W
Mr. Nicholas Edwards

asked the Secretary of State for Wales how many of the new jobs created by advance factories let since 1st March 1974 have gone to employees living in the travel-to-work area in which the factory was situated.

Mr. John Morris

The information is not available.

Mr. Nicholas Edwards

asked the Secretary of State for Wales how many new jobs have been created in each county of Wales by the letting of advance factories since 1st March 1974.

Mr. John Morris

Information cannot be given for individual counties because of risk of disclosures of a firm's employment. However, 590 people are employed in completed advance factories taken by first tenants during the period. These factories are expected to provide over 1,700 jobs when fully manned. In addition there are a number of firms who have taken up completed advance factories, but which are not yet providing employment.

Mr. Nicholas Edwards

asked the Secretary of State for Wales what is the total number of new jobs provided by advance factories which have been planned and built since 1st March 1974.

Mr. John Morris

The information cannot be made available in the form requested because of the risk of disclosing firms' individual employment. Six factories which have been completed have been allocated to firms of which two are already in production. These six together promise 520 jobs when fully operational. A further six which are still under construction have also been allocated; they are expected to provide 440 jobs when fully operational.
