HC Deb 12 July 1976 vol 915 c24W
Mr. Body

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment whether he will make a statement about the future of the property known as Berrills in Spalding; and why Oxfam was evicted from it.

Mr. Marks

The Department proposes to demolish the property to allow widening of the trunk road as an improvement of the junction with High Bridge. As the building is an unlisted building in a conservation area, the proposal to demolish it is to be the subject of an informal public inquiry shortly to be advertised as being arranged for 7th September 1976. Oxfam's short-term licence to occupy part of the property was brought to an end by the Lincolnshire County Council which has, since local government re-organisation, been responsible for the building. The property, which is dilapidated and not entirely safe, is being conveyed to the Secretary of State with vacant possession.
