HC Deb 12 July 1976 vol 915 c11W
Mr. Paul Dean

asked the Lord President of the Council how many former Members of Parliament who are past retirement age are not eligible for a parliamentary pension; and how many widows and dependants of deceased Members are not eligible to benefits from the parliamentary pension scheme.

Mr. Foot

There are no complete records of former Members who have not served in the House since 16th October 1964, but such Members are not eligible for pensions under the Ministerial Salaries and Members' Pensions Act 1965 or the Parliamentary and Other Pensions Act 1972. There are, however, 24 former Members and 33 widows of deceased Members who are not eligible for pensions from the pension scheme but who receive grants from the House of Commons Members Fund.
