HC Deb 12 July 1976 vol 915 c42W
Mr. Sproat

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department what plans his Department has for selling surplus fire hose.

Dr. Summerskill

My right hon. Friend said in reply to a Question by my hon. and learned Friend the Member for Hackney, North and Stoke Newington (Mr. Weitzman) on 19th March—[Vol. 907, c. 647]—that Civil Defence was bearing its full share of the cuts in public expenditure and that one of the main effects was in further reductions in Home Office stockpiles of equipment. These include stocks of fire hose which will be disposed of through the Ministry of Defence.
