Mr. St. John Stevasasked the Secretary of State for Education and Science what qualifications are necessary for entry to special schools under Section 12 of the Canal Boats Act 1877; how many schools there are still in existence set up under this Act; and whether such schools are affected by his current proposals to end selection.
§ Miss Joan Lestor:My Department is not aware of any existing school specialising in the education of canal-boat children, whether established under Section 12 of the Canal Boats Act 1877 or otherwise.
