HC Deb 28 January 1976 vol 904 c256W
Mr. Giles Shaw

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services if she is satisfied with the way in which complaints amongst staff within the nursing profession are investigated; and if she will publish the recommended procedure in the Official Report.

Mr. Meacher

There is no nationally agreed procedure for investigating complaints by staff, including nurses, in the National Health Service. Such complaints are dealt with through normal management channels or in accordance with any local grievance procedures established by employing authorities in consultation with staff interests. I am satisfied that these arrangements generally work well, though if the hon. Member has a particular case in mind I would be glad to consider it.

Mr. James Lamond

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services if hospital day nursery staff have yet been included within the purview of the Nurses and Midwives Whitley Council.

Mr. Meacher

I understand the General Whitley Council will shortly be considering the allocation of hospital day nursery nurses to one of the functional Whitley Councils.
