HC Deb 28 January 1976 vol 904 c257W
Mr. Ashton

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services why, in view of the fact that mentally ill patients have to be accommodated at Saxondale which is 30 miles from some parts of Bassetlaw, the adult mental illness unit of the proposed new Kilton District General Hospital at Worksop has been put back at least five years; and whether she will reconsider the proposal of the local Community Health Council that this should be included in phase 1 in 1977–78.

Dr. Owen

All health authorities are, at my request, undertaking a comprehensive review of their plans and priorities for developing their services. We have not yet been able to notify regional health authorities of the planning assumptions they should adopt for the years 1976–77 to 1978–79 but hope to do so shortly. Until the Trent Regional Health Authority and the Nottinghamshire Area Health Authority (Teaching) have completed their reviews, I cannot comment on the timing or content of the development of the proposed Kilton district general hospital.
