HC Deb 28 January 1976 vol 904 cc215-6W
Mr. R. C. Mitchell

asked the Attorney-General whether he will now authorise an increase in the loss of earnings payment to jurors.

The Attorney-General

The maximum rates of the financial loss allowance payable to jurors were last increased on 29th December 1975 by the Jurors' Allowance (Amendment No. 2) Regulations 1975. The maximum daily rate, where a juror serves for up to 10 days, was raised from £6.70 a day to £8 a day; and for each day's service over 10 days the rate is now £16 a day instead of £13.40 a day. There are no proposals for further increases in this allowance currently under consideration.
