HC Deb 26 January 1976 vol 904 cc88-9W
Dr. Hampson

asked the Secretary of State for Employment what percentage of the annual labour supply is currently constituted by graduates compared with the position in 1970 and 1965.

Mr. Booth

It is estimated that in 1975 there were 44,200 new graduates at first and higher degree levels from universities and colleges available for home employment, rather than going on to further study or professional training, being already in employment, returning overseas or not available for employment for other reasons. The corresponding figures for 1970 and 1965 were 29,000 and 14,300 respectively. These figures cannot be expressed in the form requested as there is no comprehensive information on gross additions to the labour force.
