HC Deb 26 January 1976 vol 904 c80W
Sir W. Elliott

asked the Secretary of State for Employment what is the number of places in Government training centres in the Northern Region at the present time; and what is his estimate of the increase in training places in the region in 1976.

Mr. Harold Walker

I am informed by the Manpower Services Commission that on 29th December 1975 there were 1,811 Training Opportunities Scheme (TOPS) places available in skillcentres, formerly Government training centres, in the standard Northern Region. A new skill-centre is due to open at Bradford by the end of 1976 with 120 training places which will eventually increase to 170.
