HC Deb 26 January 1976 vol 904 c70W
Mr. Paul Dean

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what would be the cost in loss of revenue if national insurance pensions were exempt from tax.

Mr. Robert Sheldon

The estimated cost for 1975–76 of exempting from tax all national insurance retirement pensions, over-80 pensions and widow's benefits is about £400 million.
