HC Deb 26 January 1976 vol 904 c48W
Mr. David Steel

asked the Secretary of State for Defence how many soldiers of the British Army have been deployed in Oman in the last two years; and what proportion of these were members of the SAS.

Mr. Mason

The number of British Army personnel serving on loan with the Sultan of Oman's armed forces has varied in the range 109 to 168 over the last two years. In addition, detachments of Her Majesty's Forces, including a detachment of the SAS Regiment have been deployed in Oman over the period. It is not the usual practice to give details of such deployments.
