asked the Secretary of State for Defence whether any distinction is drawn between ranks in the Armed Forces for the purpose of eligibility for grant towards the cost of school fees; and, if so, if he will make a statement on the details.

No. As explained in reply to Questions by my hon. Friend the Member for Birmingham, Selly Oak (Mr. Litterick) on 27th November 1975—[Vol. 901, c.300–302]—the rates of day and boarding school allowance are common to all ranks and are neither wage nor rank related.
