HC Deb 26 January 1976 vol 904 cc50-1W
Mr. Gow

asked the Secretary of State for Defence whether HMS "Endurance" is to be withdrawn from the South Atlantic Ocean in March 1976; if so, whether she will be replaced by another of Her Majesty's ships! and whether he is satisfied that all necessary measures have been and will be taken to protect Her Majesty's subjects in the Falkland Islands.

Mr. Judd

As regards HMS "Endurance ", I would refer the hon. Member to the answer I gave to the hon. Member for Harborough (Mr. Farr) on 23rd January.—[Vol. 903, c.587.] Her Majesty's Government have undertaken that no change in the present British sovereignty over the Falkland Islands should be made against the wishes of the Islanders; we have fulfilled, and will continue to fulfil, our responsibilities to this end.
