HC Deb 26 January 1976 vol 904 cc25-6W
40. Mr. Edwin Wainwright

asked the Secretary of State for Energy what has been the consumption of oil by the CEGB for each of the past five years; and what Is the cost in pounds sterling for each year.

Mr. Eadie

The CEGB consumption of oil for each of the past five years was:

Financial Year Million Tonnes
1970–1 11.2
1971–2 13.2
1972–3 14.8
1973–4 13.8
1974–5 13.3

I understand from the CEGB that its estimate of oil consumption in 1975–76 is 9.2 million tonnes.

For reasons of commercial confidentiality the CEGB does not give details of the price it pays for oil.
