Mr. Kilroy-Silk

asked the Secretary of State for Industry why he considers it to be inconsistent with the objectives of regional policy to extend the boundaries of SDAs at the present time.

Mr. Gregor Mackenzie

Any proposal affecting the SDA boundaries has to be considered against the statutory criteria for designation, and accordingly I have made no general decision against extending them.
