§ Sir George Youngasked the Secretary of State for the Environment whether his Department keeps a black-list of building contractors who are precluded from undertaking local authority work because they pay wages in excess of negotiated rates; and whether he will publish it.
§ Mr. ArmstrongThere is no such list. My right hon. Friend's circular No. 123/75 dated 16th December 1975 referred to firms barred from Government contracts for breach of the pay limit and said that, in general, no new tenders should be invited from such firms 389W by local authorities. If it becomes necessary to notify local authorities of the names of any firms which have breached the pay limit this will be done by circular.
