HC Deb 12 January 1976 vol 903 cc85-6W
Mr. Wm. Ross

asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland how many terrorists have been killed by the security forces in each county in Northern Ireland and in Belfast during 1975.

Mr. Merlyn Rees

Whether a person is a member of a terrorist organisation often cannot be established with certainty. No reliable figures, therefore, exist.

Mr. Wm. Ross

asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland how many persons from Londonderry City and from Londonderry County have been before the courts for terrorist offences during 1975; and how many persons have been charged but not yet been before the court.

Mr. Merlyn Rees

Security statistics are not kept on a county or county borough basis. The following figures relate to Police Divisions N and O which include the whole of County Londonderry and parts of Counties Tyrone and Antrim:

Number of persons appearing before the courts on terrorist-type offences from 1st January to 12th December 1975 84;
Number of persons charged with terrorist-type offences but not yet before the courts from 1st January to 12th December 1975 44
