§ Mr. Roy JenkinsGrants-in-aid are agreed by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office in consultation with the Treasury. They have agreed net totals for grants-in-aid for
1973–74—£15,988,500; and 1974–75—£19,691,000.For 1975–76 they are seeking provision for a net estimated total of £24,776,000, and for 1976–77 for provision in the 1976–77 Supply Estimates for a net estimated total of £26,679,000.The hours of broadcasting time are prescribed by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office. No Home Office staff make any direct contribution towards the operation of the BBC External Services, though certain minimal overheads are incurred in sponsoring their requirements.
