Mr. Richard Wainwright

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment (1) what recommendations he has made during the past two years concerning the safety of any railway crossing in the county of Yorkshire in view of the danger to the public;

(2) which railway crossings in the county of Yorkshire have been investigated during the past two years to deter mine the reasons for unintentional entry on to the sites of crossings in view of the danger to the public.

During the past two years accidents or incidents at the following public railway crossings in Yorkshire have been reported to the Railway Inspectorate and investigated appropriately:

  • Thorne.
  • Malton East (Station).
  • Marston Moor.
  • Wansford Road.
  • Moor Ends.
  • Wressle Station.
  • Streethouse West.
  • Beverley Park.
  • Royal Oak.
  • Kildwick.
  • Lewden.
  • Kirkham Abbey.
  • Knapton Station.
  • Brompton.

No specific recommendations have been made but in some cases the investigations are still continuing.
