The main Government help for people immobilised by disability is the £5-a-week mobility allowance. This is intended to help people to afford whatever means of mobility best meets their own needs, and I am sure some of them will use it to help them buy or run cars of their choice. The allowance is now being paid to a number of people in the 15–25 age group and the phasing-in of the age group 26–50 will start in April.
