HC Deb 09 February 1976 vol 905 cc99-100W
Mr. Speed

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment what percentage increase in the needs element of the rate support grant under the main RSG Order for 1976–77 has been paid to Kent County Council, non-metropolitan counties generally, metropolitan districts and London boroughs, respectively.

Mr. Crouch

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment what is the percentage reduction in the Kent rate support grant in 1976–77 as compared with 1975–76; and what is the equivalent figure for shire counties generally, for the metropolitan districts and the Greater London Council.

Mr. Oakes

Payments of the needs element of the rate support grant under the main RSG Order for 1976–77 are expected to show the following increases over the corresponding payments for 1975–76:

Percentage Increase
Kent County Council 21.3
Shire Counties generally 24.0
Metropolitan Districts 28.5
London Boroughs 47.4

Some of the data included in the calculation for 1976–77 are still provisional. Entitlement to resources element will depend on the rates levied for 1976–77. The needs element is not paid to the Greater London Council.
