§ Mr. Onslowasked the Secretary of State for Employment what was the total cost to public funds of the Professional and Executive Recruitment Branch of 66W the Employment Service Agency in the latest 12-month period for which figures are available; how much was received by way of fees in the same period; how many unemployed were on the PER register at the beginning and the end of the period; and how many of these were found employment through PER.
§ Mr. John FraserI am informed by the Manpower Services Commission that the cost to public funds of the Professional and Executive Recruitment Branch of the Employment Service Agency for the financial year ending 31st March 1975 was £1,841,000. During that period the net income from fees amounted to £1,553,000.
The number of unemployed people registered with PER in March 1974 was 32,184. This total had increased to 44,790 twelve months later.
PER found employment for 8,102 people during the year ending 31st March 1975, but it is not known how many of them were unemployed at the time.
